IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert
Dennler
December 4, 1932 – February 28, 2020
Albert Dennler, who was born in East Hampton, Connecticut, on December 4, 1932, passed away in Kingwood, Texas, on February 28, 2020. He was eighty-seven at the time of his passing. He had lived in Kingwood, Texas, for the last thirty-five years.
Albert graduated from East Hampton High School in 1950. Although he was born on a farm, he was not interested in farming, and he would soon become a business owner. Al started and developed businesses and worked for some companies as well. In 1970, he moved to southern California as a marketing manager. He would soon begin a refrigerated trucking company that would transport perishable products, mostly produce, to the northeast from various parts of California. He built a thriving and successful business that grew substantially. In 1982, Transamerica Transport, a transportation arm of the Transamerica Insurance Company, was in the market to purchase some smaller specialized carriers, approached Al with an offer to buy his business. In the acquisition, Al agreed to stay on as the Vice President of Operations. After the purchase, Al moved to South Plainfield, New Jersey, which was the location of the corporate office of Transamerica Transport.
In 1984, Transamerica Transport was sold to the Digby family from Denver, Colorado and Albert was one of the few executives kept to work in operations along side the owner. Digby would go on to develop specialized business opportunities. The company would become an international carrier of high-end, time-sensitive fashion merchandise. Digby Truck Lines moved to Nashville, Tennessee and eventually, Al would enter into an agreement as the owner-operator of a number of trucks based in Houston, Texas. He lived in Kingwood, Texas, until his retirement and subsequent death.
Albert's wife of forty years, Paula, passed away in 2006. He is survived by his sister Theresa Miner and her husband Dave, his sons, Bill Dennler of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jeff Dennler of Richmond Kentucky, his step-sons Al Romanella of Kingwood, Texas, James Romanella of Westerly, Rhode Island, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service and reception will be held on March 11, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, at 3803 W. Lake Houston Parkway, Kingwood, Texas 77339. Al was a long-time supporter of the Nashotah House Theological Seminary. So, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Nashotah House Theological Seminary Scholarship Fund, 2777 Mission Road, Nashotah, Wisconsin 53058 in honor or memory of Al Dennler.
