Alton was born on November 1, 1937 in Weatherford, Texas to Ulysses Clay Redmond and Lillie Bess Redmond Grimes. He was baptized in the Methodist Church. He graduated from Milby High School and enlisted into the U.S. Army in1956. He served tours in Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Benning Georgia where he graduated from the Infantry Radio Maintenance School. He returned to Houston and would continue his service for a total of 8 years.
He attended the University of Houston and began his business career with Automatic Distributing Corp. for 25 years, Entertainment Accessories for 3 years, McDonald Sales for 4 years and concluding his career as Vice-President for H & W Petroleum for 12 years.
At the age of 19, Alton was married to Carolyn Singleton and together they had two sons, Chris and Kevin Redmond.
Alton was a long-time member of The Upper Room Sunday School Class at Park Place United Methodist Church and active with Sagemont Little League. Alton loved the outdoors and spent time on numerous hunting and fishing trips with friends and family. Sitting around the campfire, cooking for others, and reading were some of the things he enjoyed the most while outdoors.
In later years he found love and companionship with Linda Steele and they were married 34 years.
Alton is preceded in death by his parents Ulysess Clay Redmond, George Grimes and Lillie Bess Redmond Grimes, his sisters Wanda Jean Liskow and her husband Pat and Anieca Lynn Perry.
Alton is survived by his beloved family; Linda Redmond, Carolyn Singleton Breathed, Son Chris and spouse Dianne, Grandchildren Ashley and Cody, Son Kevin and spouse Stacy, Grandchildren Mason and Amy, Seven great-grandchildren, Brother Gerald Grimes, Brother-in-law Larry Perry, Nieces Colette McCharen, Sherry Liskow and Teri Aragon, Nephews Chet Couvillon who was like a son to him, Curt Liskow and Rick Liskow, Sister-in-law Judy Norris and husband Aubrey, Sister-in-law Barbara Young and life long cherished friends.
Funeral services for Alton Clay Redmond of Spring, Texas are scheduled for 1:00 P.M.. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church, 907 Hicks Street, Tomball, Texas with Reverend Herman officiating.
