Mimi's Obituary
Amelia Marie "Mimi" Shumate, age 69, passed away peacefully August 18, 2021 in Houston, Texas due to complications from Lupus. She was born March 17, 1952 in Key West, Florida to 'Cotton' and 'Mickey' Miller.
Mimi lived an interesting life, living in North Africa and Australia before eventually settling in Houston. She loved her pets, Country Music, and the state of Texas. Her dogs, Ranger, Tyler and Kacey were the center of her life for many years and provided her with constant companionship. She also loved her Texas and was involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for many years. Her home was a testament to her love of the Lone Star State.
For many years Mimi worked for Conoco, ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 as an Executive Assistant. She developed many long lasting friendships during her career. Many of which she carried with her into retirement in 2017. She continued her friendships meeting regularly with her GNO group and playing golf when she could.
Mimi was preceded in death by her brother 'Bunky' Miller and is survived by her brother Kyle Miller, her sister, Terri Miller, her brother Stuart and his wife Sabrina Miller; their two sons Christian and Joshua Miller along with Christian's wife and son, Stephanie and Bodie Miller as well as many cousins. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
