Mama's in the House! Now the party in Heaven can begin!

Barbara Ellen Colston Brunton went on her final journey on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the age of 75 to join Jesus, her Mama, and other loved ones and friends. She wore her Mama's crocheted purple hat and puppy pajamas, surrounded by her daughters (Eileen and Susie), special daughter (Carol Jean Guyton), and son-in-law (Calvin). She succumbed to complications from Alzheimer's disease after a well-fought battle in Conroe, Texas.

Barbara, the youngest child of three, was born in Alvin, Texas to George Lee Colston and Mary Virginia Boyd Colston on November 28, 1944. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lee Colston Estes (Donald Estes) of Soldotna, Alaska and brother, George Cecil Colston (Cecilia Colston) of LaPorte, Texas.

Barbara began as a homemaker and raised four creative children. Barbara Eileen Wooten Balli (Calvin Balli), Susie Elaine Parks, Robert Fleming Wooten, and William Russell Wooten Tucker (Casey Tucker). She had 8 grandchildren: Stephen Micheal Paulson, Johnny Reid Vicars III (Charlie Rich), Kaci Gowen, Barbara Ann Wooten, Mary Elizabeth Wooten, Raymond Russell Aleman, Jacob Tyler Wooten, Mary Lilliana Tucker. She was affectionately called Silly Great Grandma by her only great-grandchild, Roman Micheal Paulson. Barbara was always a doting grandmother and would often get on the floor for a memorable play date with the kids and grand-pets.

She will be loved and remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends from all over the world.

Throughout her growing up years, she lived in Tomball, Humble, Houston, and Pasadena, Texas. Then moved to Longmont, Colorado and on to Kenai, Alaska. She loved to take photos and saw many moose run through the front yard, nesting bald eagles, bugeling elk, beautiful skies, and snow laden mountains. Barbara also loved hummingbirds and decorated her home with them. Her constant traveling companion was Ruby Red-Throat the stuffed hummingbird.

Barbara traveled as much as she could including Alaska, Colorado, Kentucky, Florida, New Mexico, Washington D.C., New Orleans, Memphis, Ohio, Mexico, Canada, and all around the great state of Texas. She especially loved the Colorado Mountains and the beach. Barbara even had the opportunity to ride in a hot air balloon for her 60th birthday and the Goodyear Blimp! Her life's dream was to become an Archeologist to study ruins around the world, but she resolved instead to ravishly read books about the subject.

During her work and volunteer life, Barbara excelled in whatever she did! She learned about tropical fish and plant care at Woolco, she framed artwork at various hobby and craft stores around the Houston area, she became one of Texas' top lead food specialists (along with her Rah-Rah Sisters) at Randall's Signature Grocery stores. Barbara worked hard, but she always made time to help her friends, children, neighbors, and community by babysitting, party planning, gardening (that woman could grow a stick!), volunteering, or whatever needed to be done.

Everyday was filled with music and dancing. Barbara could out dance ANYBODY we knew and even boogied to music until two days before she joined Heaven's choir. She especially loved Bob Seger, Elvis Presley, and Buddy Holly. Barbara followed local Texas bands with her friends and her soul-sister Cindy Soley, dancing the night away draped in feather boas and Mardi Gras beads. She also loved Celtic and bagpipe music bouncing off the Colorado Mountains. If Barbara heard a funky ringtone or a toe-tapping song in the grocery store, she could not help but dance wherever she was. She loved every kind of music!
Though we truly miss our Mama, we know there's a big party in Heaven right now and she wants you all to join in her celebration! Mama's in the House!
Her wishes were to be buried with her mother Mary at the Decker Prairie Cemetery in Magnolia, Texas. After the burial, we will host a going home party with music and dancing in June of 2020. Details will be announced soon.
