IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara
Hammett
October 15, 1947 – November 23, 2022
Barbara Hammett of Tomball, Texas, age 75, passed away Wednesday, November
23rd, 2022 after a years-long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was at peace and
passed surrounded by her closest family. She was born in Henderson, Texas on
October 15th, 1947, daughter of the late John Alfred (Shorty) and Inez Barnes.
She is survived by her daughter Jill Hammett and son-in-law Trent Kerr, her son Jeff,
her son Chad and daughter-in-law Erica, and a sister, Beverly Bruno. She was blessed
with four grandchildren, Aidan, Chandler, Trenton, and Charlotte. She was preceded in
death by her parents and her brother.
Barbara worked for the Spring Independent School District from 1984 until her
retirement in 2012, primarily as a 5th-grade teacher at Oak Creek Elementary. During
her decades-long career, she helped hundreds of children, especially in her favorite
subject, language arts. She enjoyed reading, supplemented with frequent trips to the
library to access the latest novel kept on hold for her. She also loved shopping and
lunches out with friends and family.
She will be remembered as a dedicated loving mother and Mimi, a kind teacher, an
angelic friend, and a diligent caretaker. Friends and spouses of her children found
themselves welcomed into the family as if they'd always been members and everyone
who knew her will miss her very much.
