Obituary – Barbara Ann (Brown) Plilar
With profound sadness, but also with sincere gratitude for a beautiful and blessed life, the family of Barbara Ann (Brown) Plilar announces her death on March 16, 2021. She was 79 years of age.
Preceded in death by her parents, C.P. and Dixie (Starr) Brown, she leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 50 years, Russell Plilar, brother David Charles (Butch) Brown (Suzie), sister Debra Bean (Scotty), children Cheri McKeever, Michelle Garrett (Gregg), Christy Chavez (Andre), grandchildren John McKeever, Michael McKeever, Robert McKeever (Christie), Tori Chavez, Austin Chavez, niece April Davis (Troy), nephew Cody Brown.
A Native Texan, Barbara grew up on her family's farm in El Paso, Texas. She also lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, Michigan, California (Bay Area and San Diego), Oklahoma and Houston, Texas. After earning a Pastoral Care Degree from Rhema Bible College, she co-pastored Seedtime and Harvest church for 30 years. During her time in ministry she traveled extensively, ministering in 18 different countries including Mexico, India, Africa, England, France, Romania, Russia, China, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Malta, Israel, and Egypt. She also authored an inspirational book entitled " Coming Out of the Pit" and received an honorary doctorate in Pastoral Care from the International Miracle Institute, Christian Harfouche Ministries.
Barbara lit up any room she walked into, and was the epitome of style. She lived an active and full life and loved traveling the world. Born with an adventurous spirit, she grew up riding horses and throughout her life never hesitated to pursue new and exciting experiences including sky diving, jet boating, water skiing, scuba diving and paragliding. She especially enjoyed and cherished time spent making memories with her children and grandchildren and she loved all animals, especially her two Dobermans Renni and Bentley.
A strong woman who raised three strong women, hers was a life well lived. A striking example of strength, compassion and loyalty, she showed all who knew her how to give, how to love and how to truly make others feel important. She loved her Lord and her family with all of her heart and her life was a true reflection of what it means to always seek out and see the best in others. Beloved by her family and her many friends, she will be remembered as a faithful and devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. Always one to lead by example, she gave unselfishly and generously to those in need and was an inspiration to her family and to all who knew her.
Barbara's body will be cremated, and there will be a private service at a later date. She always loved living on the coast and being near the water. In the end, she wanted her ashes spread into the ocean near Coronado, CA.
