Barbara Ann Powell, 90, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Houston, Texas. She was born in Freemont, Michigan to Duncan and Gladys Bruce. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rudolph Chancy Powell jr. She is survived by her son and two daughters; Scott Powell, wife Rachel; Joanne Bogus, husband Jerome; and Kathleen Powell; Eight grandchildren, Janelle Wetter, husband Trevor; Justin Bogus, wife Heather; Jillian Nash, husband Thomas; Rebecca Powell, husband Andrew Graumlich; Robert Powell, Sarah Powell, Nadia Powell, Anna Powell; and nine great grandchildren, Noah, Elijah, Katherine, Bruce, Tyler, Frederick, Averie, David, and Elizabeth.
After attending Harrisville High School she earned her Nursing degree from Henry Ford School of Nursing. Barbara worked for Henry Ford Hospital as an operating room nurse for a couple years before getting married. Then later work for Detroit Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse for 16 years. She spent her time enjoying every moment with her family, boating, at her home on Lake Van Etten. Barbara would always have fresh baked goods awaiting their arrival. Every holiday was filled with the smell of homemade cooking and laughter. Her hobbies brought out her artistic side; crewel and cross stitch, quilting, and stained glass that she filled her home with and gave as gifts.
