In loving memory of Barbara Anne Reiter (11/1/53 - 10/13/23):

With hearts full of love that will forever endure, we gather to honor the remarkable life of Barbara Anne Reiter (Barbara Anne Medina). Anne's journey on this earth came to a peaceful end on Friday, October 13, 2023, after bravely battling Huntington's Disease.

Born on November 1, 1953, Anne was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, cherished sister, and a loyal friend. Her grace, kindness, and unwavering faith in the Lord left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

Anne had an incredible zest for life, finding joy in the simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener, finding solace in the beauty of the outdoors. Anne was also an exceptional and adored teacher. Over many years, she inspired countless students, fostering a love for learning and making each student feel seen and valued. Her genuine care and nurturing guidance made her a beloved mentor, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts and minds of those she taught. Her warm smile and contagious laughter filled all of our lives with happiness, even in the face of adversity.

As she faced the challenges of Huntington's Disease, Anne showed unparalleled resilience and inspired us all with her unwavering courage and faith. She approached life with a grace that will forever be etched in our hearts, reminding us to cherish every moment and embrace love and compassion.

A special thanks goes out to several key team members who provided care and comfort for Anne during her final journey.  The Oasis Hospice team provided care for her over almost a full year and ensured all of Anne's needs were satisfied both spiritually and physically. Additionally,  the staff at the New Haven Assisted Living facilities offered Anne a safe haven where she was able to maintain as much independence as possible while also ensuring her comfort and dignity throughout her illness. Finally, in the final weeks of her life, our special caregiver Zulma dedicated herself to Anne with unwavering care and compassion. The family of Anne are forever grateful for the love and support each of you provided Anne during this difficult time. You eased her suffering and enriched her final time on earth and for that we are immensely thankful.

Anne's legacy lives on through her children, family, and friends. Her love and strength continue to guide us, and her memory will forever be a beacon of light in our lives. May she rest in peace, free from pain, and may her spirit forever live on in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) to honor Anne's  memory and support research towards finding a cure for this challenging condition. Your contribution will help bring hope and light to others affected by Huntington's Disease. Thank you.
