Obituary

Betty Joyce Jenkins was a Christmas baby; born 1929 in Sonora, California, the youngest of 7 brothers and sisters. Cancer claimed her siblings but she won her battles and passed peacefully on June 8, 2020 at 90 years old.

Betty and Wayne Jenkins were married 34 years and she was a widow 35 years. Betty was a psychiatric nurse and proudly graduated from Fresno General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She met her lifelong friends there and her year book caption said: "an intelligent, ambitious girl --- doesn't bubble over, just perks quietly". Betty was smart, strong, stoic, kind, and artistically gifted in all of her hobbies. She made beautiful handcrafted things all her life. She imagined finished projects and had all the STUFF to make them….ya, you might call her a hoarder. In her 90 years, she knew poverty, war, prosperity, social and financial inequality and ever-changing technology. She was physically kaput, but always aware, thoughtful and conversational to the very end. She was a woman of few words, who listened, was direct and meant everything she said.

Betty raised two strong, independent, daughters. Jeanette Smith and Janis Seuthe. Her daughters, 3 grandchildren: Daniel, Michael and Jasmin and the 4 great grandchildren: Shyan (she is studying to be a nurse) Niko, Caitlyn and Carson will forever remember Betty's wonderful life.
