The Life and Legacy of Bobbie Ruth Thomas

Bobbie Ruth Williams Thomas peacefully transitioned on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 6:41am surrounded with love by her family and friends.

Bobbie Ruth was born on July 31, 1948 to Willie Williams and Esther Mae Johnson. She attended Evan E. Worthing High School and graduated in 1967. Bobbie went on to study dietary management at San Jacinto College and while studying she worked at Medical Arts Hospital from 1968 until 1992 and became a dietary manager at MD Anderson until she retired in 2011 after 20 plus years of service.

In 1976, Bobbie met Harry James Craig and together had their loving daughter TaShawana and married in 1994. After the birth of Shawana, she dedicated her life to being a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and servant of God. The two divorced in 2001, but remained friends and were able to continue to be loving parents to Tashawana.

While at MD Anderson, Bobbie met Mr. Warren Thomas (deceased) and married in 2006 until his death in 2016.

She tirelessly gave her time, love and support to her family and vowed to ensure that Shawana got married and had a family of her own. Her motto was cleanliness is next to Godliness and would clean even at her guests' areas while they were still eating.

Even though she faced many difficulties in her life, Bobbie was dedicated to loving and helping others, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others--even if it was only to make sure you had a good laugh. To know Bobbie was to know love--both kind and stern. Mrs. Love, as she lovingly referred to everyone, has certainly left us with lasting memories of unwavering love.

Bobbie was predeceased by her father and mother, her sisters Gloria Bowser (Billy Bowser Deceased), Esther Drones (Albert Drones), and Jacqueline Brooks (Richard Brooks Deceased). She is survived by her daughter TaShawana Guy, son-in-law Derrick Guy, Sr., grandchildren Derrick Jr. and Aryelle Guy; brothers Albert Gordon, Willie Williams, Joseph Williams, Doyle Williams (Lena Williams Deceased) and Darryl Williams; nieces and nephews, Tamika Brooks McCarty (spouse Bryon and daughter Brooke), Jeremy Williams (wife Marquie and children Niah, Herman Baccus III, and Kari, Sterling Drones, Marvel Drones, Richard Brooks (wife and children), Eric Gordon, Jack Gordon and a host of other relatives.
