Caroline Ann (Steadham) Hernandez, passed away in her home, August 8, 2023, with her family by her side.

Born to the late Harry F. and Jessie Lee Steadham, Dec 23, 1942, in Kermit, Texas. With her father in the oilfields and a homemaker mother, Caroline and her 3 siblings had a great childhood, spent most of her school days in Eunice, NM, then graduated in 1962 from Jacksboro High School, Jacksboro, TX

In 1974, she married the love of her life, Juan Francisco Hernandez, Jr. and for 50 years, they made their home in Houston, TX. She worked most of her career alongside Juan, at Audio Electronics, a small business, in Houston, which they eventually bought, then sold to retire.  In her free time, Caroline loved traveling, cruising the Caribbean, playing slots at the casino, was an excellent dancer, gardener, seamstress, and enjoyed painting.  Her loves of fishing and cooking were passed down to her 3 children.  Caroline loved to laugh, kick back with a few beers or margaritas and was often the life of the party.  She was true old school, full of grit, and told it like it was.  Caroline cared nothing about her Alzheimer's diagnosis and continued to live life her way, without worry or concern.  The last 4 years, Caroline grew softer, sweeter, and her bright blue eyes were filled with wonder for everything beautiful- birds, clouds, sunsets, flowers, colorful magazines, and music. Caroline recognized and loved her family, friends, and kitty cat Tux all the way to the end.  She will be deeply missed by all!

Caroline is survived by her husband, Juan, and three children: John Barry Hernandez, of Tomball, TX; Brian Akers, (Denise Elliot) of Houston, TX; and Leslie Akers Simmons (J Ricky Simmons), of Azle, TX; a granddaughter Jennifer Palazzolo (Tim Palazzolo); and one great-granddaughter, Reese Palazzolo, of Hockley, TX.  Caroline was predeceased by her siblings, Billy and Don Steadham, and Patsy Steadham Guzman.

A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held, Saturday, Sept 2, 2023 at 12pm at La Hacienda Restaurant, Cypress, TX.
