Charlene Mueller McCarthy, our beloved "GG", slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 26,
2022 surrounded by her loving family. A native Houstonian born August 4, 1938, she grew up in what
was then a small home on the corner of 12th and Tulane in The Heights with her parents and five sisters.
She was an active student at St. Agnes High School where many life-long friendships began and where
she developed her passion for learning and her deep devotion to God. As a teenager, Charlene would
often visit her widow neighbor, Grace McCarthy, and fell in love with Grace's son, Frank, from a picture
of the handsome young Marine who was then stationed in Camp LeJeune. Frank and Charlene brought
seven children into the world, 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-
grandchildren.
Previously departed loved ones include her husband of 53 years Frank McCarthy, daughters Katy
McCarthy and Teresa McCarthy, granddaughter Gina Elizabeth Matthews, parents Charlie and Cara
Mueller, sisters Ida Mae Baird, Johnna Lee Mueller and Cara Kendall, and her loving and devoted
brother-in-law Bishop John E. McCarthy.
Charlene is survived by 5 of children: Patricia and husband Phillip Prein, Sharon McCarthy and Robert
Ramos, Frank McCarthy, John and wife Deanna McCarthy, Danny and wife Amy McCarthy, Charlene's
devoted sisters Mewes Goetzmann and Maud Lipscomb.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on July 9, 2022 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213
Mangum Rd. in Houston, Tx, 77092. A Rosary and viewing will precede the Mass at 10:30am.

Following the funeral, a celebration of Charlene's Life will take place at St. Ambrose Church Hall.
