Charles Cary O'Connor, 81,left this world on July 3rd following a struggle with cancer. He died peacefully at his home in Houston in the company of his wife Linda and his hospice nurse. During Charlie's final weeks he had visits and support from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton which meant so much to him and brought comfort.
Charles "Charlie" O'Connor was born April 7, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Ida and Charles O'Connor. Charlie spent his early childhood with his mother and step-father, Edward Baird, in Morelia, Michoacan. There he and his younger sister Michol and younger brother Patrick attended school and enjoyed what was a small, charming colonial city. After a few years, the family returned and eventually settled in Houston. Charlie attended St Thomas High School and then joined the US Air Force. He was stationed in Korea from 1958 to 1962. He returned to Texas where he became a successful salesman. Following the death of his mother, Charlie lived near his stepfather, Edward Baird, to whom he provided support and assistance until his death in 2004. In 2000,he married Linda David and settled in the Eldridge Park neighborhood in Northwest Houston.
Charlie was a devout Catholic, and a good, kind and generous man who was always ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed gardening and walking his dogs. He especially enjoyed having cookouts with friends and family.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Ida Baird, Charles O'Connor, stepfather Edward Baird and brother Patrick O'Connnor. He is survived bye his wife, Linda, his sister Michol O'Connor, and his half siblings Marolyn O'Connor, Teresa O'Connor, Pam O'Connor, Jane Baird, John Baird and David Baird.
