Annie Charlyne Pope Thompson was born in Houston, Texas to parents Mary Gladys Cole Pope, and Charly Pope. She attended grade school at Annunciation Catholic Church, and graduated from high school at Incarnate Word Academy. Early career years had Charly working as a nurse for various Doctors, and Hospitals. Charly worked at Rice University during the 60's participating in Chemistry, and Bio Chemistry projects (published). Later on in life, she finished her Nursing Degree, and worked as an Registered Nurse. She retired in 1995 from her last job as an RN in Kerrville, Texas.
She married Stephen Roger Thompson Jr. in 1945. She is survived by her 2 children, Stephen R. Thompson III, and Mary Ellen Thompson Rioux, 3 grandchildren, Stephen IV, Charles, and Mark, great grandchildren Christina, Jacob, and Stephen V, and 2 great great grandchildren Alex and Olivia.
Charly, as she was called by her friends, was a strong working mother, who with her husband Roger, (1921-1986), managed to raise their children with ample amounts of love and attention. She moved to Lakehills, Texas in the mid 1980s, and lived there until October, 2020. She passed quietly in Tomball, Texas at the home of, and with her son Stephen and his wife Victoria, after a brief illness.
There will be a mass for Charly at St. Victor Chapel in Lakehills, Texas November 7, 2020, 7PM. At her request, there will be no services, and her ashes will be deposited at her requested location by her family.
