Cheryl Ann Austin, 77, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on September 22, 2021.

Born in Sulphur, Louisiana on September 16, 1944, Cheryl was the daughter of Annie Lou Cox and Ernest W. Cox, Sr. (Dudgie).  Her grandmother, Angel Domingue, and sister, Geraldine Cole, were significant influences in her life. She met and married the love of her life, Gordon Austin, Jr. in 1964. They lived together in Houston for their entire marriage of almost 50 years.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Leslye Hermes wife to Scott in Magnolia; her son, Jeff Austin husband to Leanne in Sugar Land; her grandsons, Tyler Hermes and Ryan Hermes husband to Stephanie; her great grandson, Nolan Hermes; and her sister, Patti Trosclair.

She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Austin, Jr.;  her parents, Annie Lou Cox and Ernest W. Cox, Sr.;  her sister, Geraldine Cole; and brother, Ernie Cox.

Cheryl never met a stranger. She enjoyed meeting and talking to people. One of her love languages was Acts of Service. She enjoyed baking for church functions, family, and friends. Volunteering brought Cheryl an enormous amount of joy.  She donated her time and shared her heart with various charities, churches, and senior living centers. She cherished being a devoted wife, stay-at-home mom, and loving grandmother.
