IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Claretha
Alexander
July 7, 1958 – January 20, 2022
Claretha Delores Alexander was born in Houston, Texas on July 7, 1958 to Marion Helen and James Edward Hughes. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School. In 1978, Claretha married Edward Arnold Alexander and from this union Arechia, Jermell, and Angela were born.
Despite enduring many hardships and trials throughout her life, she learned to demonstrate love, compassion, and forgiveness. She worked in the education field and was a caretaker for many years. After she became a widow, she transitioned to real estate investing. Claretha was devoted to Jehovah God and remained faithful to Him her whole life. She was introduced to the Jehovah Witnesses as a young girl and eventually she was baptized as a Witness. She instilled a love for our Holy Father and His son Jesus Christ in her children, by teaching them stories from the bible and attending meetings regularly. She continued to share scriptures and expressed her joy for God's word to many. She also enjoyed drawing, hiking, shopping, conversating on the phone and had a great sense of humor. She was a great friend to many. She had a humble spirit; often she would display warmth and acts of kindness to those who knew her. She will be missed.
In turn, we must also acknowledge everyone who loved, cared, and assisted Claretha during her lifetime, thank you. We sincerely appreciate the support given to her and her family in their time of need. Thank you for showing loving kindness and may the Most High God, Jehovah and His son Jesus Christ bless all of you.
Claretha was preceded in death by her parents James E. Hughes, Marion H. Maxwell, Ruby and Edward Alexander; her husband Edward A. Alexander; her siblings Karen Ralston and Darrell Alexander and many others.
Claretha passed away on January 20, 2022, from cancer at home surrounded by loved ones. She leaves to mourn: Her children Arechia Gaines (son-in- law Damien), Jermell Alexander (daughter-in-law Valencia), and Angela Alexander. She leaves behind her stepmother Ann Hughes. Her siblings Kimberly Hughes, stepsisters Maria Willmore and Shirley Stewart, and sister-in-law Cynthia Martin (brother-in-law Earnest Martin) and brother-in-law Eric Alexander.
