IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Crystal
Hetrick
April 3, 1970 – August 21, 2025
Crystal Lynn Hetrick, 55, of Houston, TX passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, Crystal was the beloved daughter of the late Glenna and Darrel Hetrick. A proud Mountaineer, she earned her master's degree from West Virginia University, where she cultivated her lifelong passion for language, culture, and learning.
Crystal dedicated much of her career to teaching as a language professor at Houston Community College (HCC), where she inspired countless students with her deep knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for language and communication. Her colleagues and students alike will remember her for her kindness, intellect, and unwavering commitment to education.
Outside the classroom, Crystal found joy in dance, the rhythms of movement and expression being a lifelong passion. She inspired many to pursue fitness through Zumba, turning taxing workouts into exciting and fun dance classes; unintentionally building a community through her infectious passion and love of rhythm.
She also cherished time spent near the ocean, with the beach serving as one of her happiest places. Whether through soaking up the sun, a dip in the waves, or a quiet walk along the shore, Crystal brought fire and enthusiasm to everything she did.
Crystal is survived by her beloved daughter, Kelsey Nicole Hetrick, who was the center of her world and greatest source of pride.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
