Curtis Bryan Fidler, 74, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at home in Humble, Texas. he was born November 12, 1947, in Washington Pennsylvania to Lowell and Delcie Fidler. Curtis is preceded in death by his wife Maria Fidler (49 years of marriage); daughter Gayle Nicole Fidler and both parents. He leaves behind his brother Jim Fidler and sister Shelley Kearns, as well as two daughters; Joanna Lee, husband Chris; Kimberly Lemelle, husband Joe; and son Lowell Fidler, wife Heather.
Curtis was blessed with nine grandchildren, Joseph Sam, Jozuah Babineaux, Shane Sam; sister Johanna Sam, Joachim Lemelle; brother Curtis Fidler Lemelle, Devon Fidler, Cameron Premer, and brother Gavin Fidler; and one great granddaughter Janae Sam. Curtis was known to his grandkids as Pawpaw. he was always entertaining with tongue twisters "Skunk on a Stump" and "Peter Piper's Pickled Peppers".
He served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era by enlisting in the United States Navy where he held the rank of Seaman Apprentice, E-2. He earned the "National Defense Services Medal", "Vietname Service Medal/Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea)" and the "RVN Campaign Medal with Device". Curtis later started his family when he met his wife Maria Castro and was married in 1971. he worked at the steel mills in Pennsylvania. He, Maria and their 4 children eventually relocated to the Houston area at the closure of the mills. He worked in the airline industry until his retirement in 2010 from Continental Airlines. He relocated to Ocala, Florida to enjoy his retirement and later back to Humble, Texas in 2021 where he lived out his last days surrounded by family.
He enjoyed golfing, bargain shopping at the local swap meets, and collecting antiques. He always enjoyed a good meal and an ice cold glass of milk to accompany. One of his favorite past times was using witty sarcasm. He loved to joke around and challenge his kids and their spouses on "who was the HAMMER and who the NAIL?" In his quiet time he enjoyed just listening to the chiming of his collection of chimes.
