Obituary

Curtis Waymon McCaghren AKA "Pete" was born on July 20 th , 1938 in Moulton, Alabama as the youngest of nine children. Pete spent most of his childhood in Crawfordsville, Arkansas before moving to Houston, Texas where he attended Jeff Davis High School graduating in 1958. Pete served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 when he was honorably discharged. Pete married his wonderful wife Kay McCaghren of 59 years on June 30 th , 1962 and to this union one child was born, Kimberly Kay Biggerstaff. After his stint in the United States Army, Pete worked at Sanitary Farm Dairies followed by employment at Continental Can Company. Pete spent the majority of his career at Baker Hughes where he worked as a machinist for over 30 years.

Pete's hobbies included sports, dogs, telling jokes, and talking to strangers. Pete lived and breathed sports and was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Celtics, San Francisco 49ers, and Arkansas Razorbacks. Furthermore, Pete loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events which he never missed. Pete had an extreme love of animals and would often carry dogfood in the trunk of his car to give to stray, starving animals. Additionally, Pete lived for his three dogs Coco, Pepper, and Lucy as they always brought him happiness. Talking to strangers and telling jokes were what Pete did the best. He truly never met a stranger and had the unique gift of making people laugh and smile. You could not walk into a local Walmart, Home Depot, Cracker Barrel, or any other store/restaurant in general who didn't know Pete by name.

Pete's true passion was spending quality time with his family and grandchildren. Pete would do anything for his family and was always in attendance for any sporting event, school function, or major life milestone. He was very proud of his family and always loved to dote on his grandchildren.  Pete was a wonderful grandfather and made a positive, lasting impact on anyone who crossed paths with him.
