Obituary

Cynthia "Cyn-Cyn" Jane Crafts peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on the morning of
November 27, 2024, in Klein, Texas, five years after her terminal cancer diagnosis. She left this
world just as she lived in it—gracefully, lovingly, and with a touch of humor.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church on Monday, December 16,
2024 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at 3:00 pm at Klein Memorial Park – Spring-Klein. All
are welcome to join the family in celebrating her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, St. Ignatius Catholic Church, or the Houston
Coalition for Life—causes dear to her heart.

Born on March 15, 1955, at Sisters of Schumpert Catholic Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana,
Cynthia came into the world on the infamous "Ides of March"—a date that would later inspire
countless family jokes and a lifelong flair for drama and celebration. She was the fourth of seven
children born to Joseph Frances and Johnnie Marie Frizzell Crafts, a tight-knit, loving family that
shaped her deeply.

From a young age, Cynthia's creativity and industrious spirit shone brightly. Taught to sew by
her mother, she turned that skill into a lifelong labor of love, creating heirloom garments that
became family treasures. For Cynthia, sewing was more than a craft—it was a way to express her
devotion. Whether crafting intricate baptismal and first communion gowns for her nieces and
grandchildren or piecing together quilts designed "just for you," her creations carried her heart in
every stitch. Her talents extended to professional level birthday cakes, ceramics that dazzled, and
even a custom-built dance floor for a granddaughter. Right up to her final days, Cynthia could be
found at her sewing machine, lovingly completing projects for those she cherished.

Her adventurous spirit matched her creativity. Learning to drive at 15, Cynthia quickly took to
the road and was always eager to meet new people, discover new places, and embrace whatever
life brought her way. She began her career at General Motors in Shreveport, where she spent 25
years excelling in roles that showcased her intellect and problem-solving skills. Known as "C.J."
to her coworkers, she rose from the Trim Department to Quality Assurance Officer. She was
eventually elected Secretary for UAW Local 2166, a position she served in until her "first"
retirement.

Education was another testament to Cynthia's determination and passion for life. At 44, she
earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from LSU-Shreveport at the same graduation
ceremony as her son, Nicholas Crafts, and his future wife, Amy—a moment she proudly
celebrated. Never one to stop learning, she went on to earn her MBA from Centenary College of
Louisiana before embarking on yet another chapter: nursing.

At 56, Cynthia fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating with her associate's degree
from Northern Oklahoma College of Enid. While attending nursing school, she worked at St.
Mary's Regional Medical Center as an Emergency Department tech. Cynthia's nursing career
was the perfect extension of her love for people, and she served as an ICU nurse at Baptist
Hospitals of Beaumont and Memorial Hermann Northeast Medical Center before becoming a

school nurse for Aldine ISD. She retired in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of care and
compassion.

Cynthia's zest for life and unyielding devotion to her family made her unforgettable. She was a
family cheerleader, a source of strength and wisdom, and her love of life can only be described
as extraordinary. Her favorite color, red, epitomized her vibrancy and passion, visible in every
project she undertook. Whether hosting her annual Christmas Eve feasts, quilting a masterpiece,
or sharing a hearty laugh, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to
know her. Her legacy of love, creativity, and resilience will continue to inspire all who cherish
her memory.

"Beware the Ides of March" may have been her playful refrain, but for her family, it will forever
mark the birthday of a one-of-a-kind woman who turned every challenge into triumph and every
moment into a celebration.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Frances and Johnnie Marie Crafts, and her
beloved brother, Paul David Crafts. Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Carrie Crafts Jordan
(Michael) of Tomball, Texas; her son, Nicholas Jon Crafts (Amy) of Klein, Texas; her cherished
grandchildren, Cecelia Noelle Smith Rutherford (Nate), Bailey Nicole Smith, Jamison Riley
Crafts, and Grayson Nicholas Crafts; and her great-granddaughter, Caroline Jane Rutherford. She
will also be deeply missed by her siblings: Mary Camille Crafts Doss (Burns), Theresa Anne
Crafts, Norbert Hayes Crafts (Debbie), Anita Jeanne Crafts, and Carole Antionette Crafts
Nessmith (Wade), as well as her godchildren, Kristine Camille Bailey and Claire Elizabeth
Crafts, and her many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cynthia's devoted caregivers: her daughter, Carrie
Crafts Jordan, and her daughter-in-law, Amy Crafts, whose unwavering love and care ensured
she was surrounded by comfort and compassion; and her sister, Theresa Anne Crafts, who
selflessly relocated to stay by Cynthia's side during her final year, attending to her every need
with patience and grace. Special thanks are also given to the exceptional team at Aspire Hospice,
including nurse practitioner Melissa, aide Chamieca, social worker Tiffani, and owner Meg, for
their seamless support and care, as well as to the compassionate team at Texas Oncology, led by
Dr. Christine Lee and Dr. Andrew Jackson, whose dedication and professionalism provided
tremendous comfort during her journey.

The family also wishes to recognize Lindsy Read's remarkable team at Memorial Hermann The
Woodlands Surgery Center, where Cynthia received care during numerous procedures. Doctors
Drew Delewski, Thomas Newton, and Christopher Houston exemplified extraordinary skill,
compassion, and professionalism—the kind of care one would hope for their own loved ones.
The exceptional efforts of all these individuals made an immeasurable difference in ensuring
Cynthia's dignity, comfort, and peace in her final year.

Cyn-Cyn, we'll miss you every day. Until we meet again, rest in peace.
