May 14, 1958 - February 17, 2023
Dale Robert Curry, 64, of Katy, TX, passed away February 17, 2023, at home surrounded by his family, after a 7 month struggle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
He was born on May 14, 1958 to Margaret Davey and Richard Curry in Pittsburgh, PA. The family then moved to New York, where Dale has many fond childhood memories spending time at Lake Deforest. After Dale graduated from Clarkstown North High School in 1976, he went on to move to Houston, TX in 1981 to start a new chapter of life.
Dale met Rita in 1982 in Houston and got married in 1984 in Katy, TX at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Dale and Rita went on to have 3 children; Carla, Dale and Catherine.
Dale worked as a chef over many years, as well as for the New York Times and USA Today as District Distribution Manager for 25 years before retiring. Over the years, Dale took a very active role in his children's sports teams and school activities. His hobbies included cooking delicious meals for his family, maintaining his garden and pool, home improvement projects and making home-made pizzas in his pizza oven. He enjoyed doing puzzles and whenever surrounded by company you could be sure he would seize the opportunity for a game of Yahtzee. You could be sure he is playing Yahtzee in heaven with his family.
Dale was predeceased by Samuel and Alvera Curry, Thomas and Marie Davey, Richard and Margaret Curry, and David Curry. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rita; step-mother, Jo Curry; brother, Dennis; half-brother, Terry Davey; daughter, Carla Curry Palmer and son-in-law, Gary Palmer; son, Dale Jr.; daughter, Catherine; grandchildren, Murphy and Archer Page, as well as his sister-in-laws, aunt, beloved cousins, second cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral services, which will be held at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church on Saturday, April 1st from 11am-1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Houston SPCA, an organization Dale felt strongly about as a lover of all animals.
