Denver Alderson Young, 84, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in his home April 8, 2021. He was born in Enoch, West Virginia on March 8, 1937 to Rennie and Gladys Young. He is survived by the love of his life Novell; son Darren and his son Ian and daughters Emily and Grace, also of Houston, Texas; son Randall and wife Jennifer and sons Ben in Thomas of Rio Vista, Texas; daughter Angela and her sons Devin and Matthew Randle of Houston, Texas; sister Janice and husband Dale Smith; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.
Denver served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1961 to 1967 in the 2nd Armored Division (Hell on Wheels). He was honorably discharged January 31, 1967. While in the Army, Denver met his soul mate, Novell, and they married in 1961. They shared 59 blessed years of marriage together.
Denver was the owner of Young's Barbershop in Houston, Texas until he retired in 2011 after more than 40 years in business. He was a hardworking man who lived his life by example. He was an honest man who always had infinite words of wisdom. Up until the end, he had a positive outlook and his sense of humor never left him and he never stopped singing. His proudest moments were the times spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, a great father, and a talented musician. He left a beautiful legacy and will be missed beyond words.
