Obituary

Galveston, TX– Don Lorenz, cherished husband, and father, passed away peacefully on 1/8/24 surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old.Formerly of Westphalia, TX, Don Lorenz embarked on a love story for the ages when he met his soulmate, Judy Sorenson Lorenz, at Stephen F. Austin University. Together, they built a 60-year marriage anchored in devotion and love of their three children.


His passion for football shone throughout his life, from his own days as a talented player draft my Miami Dolphins, to his inspiring years as a coach. He guided young athletes at Bishop Byrne and Kelly Catholic High Schools, and later left a lasting impact on multiple schools across the Beaumont area.


Driven by an unyielding desire to provide a great life for his family, Don earned his Master's degree while juggling the demands of fatherhood. This remarkable dedication paved the way for his prominent roles as Principal, first at Lumberton High School and then for over two decades at Liberty High School. He led with wisdom, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to fostering the potential in his students.
Upon retirement, Don and Judy, the love of his life, embarked on a beautiful new chapter. They first envisioned a seaside haven, building a beach home filled with countless memories. Later, they turned their sights to the tranquility of the farm, creating another sanctuary where love and laughter abounded.


Don leaves behind a legacy of love, leadership, and an unwavering spirit. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; his cherished children, Lisa Lorenz Turner; Joel Lorenz, and Alison Lorenz Kolojaco, his 6 grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart.
