Donna Lynn Cates Montgomery

October 26, 1952 – October 21, 2023

Donna Lynn Cates Montgomery, a treasured daughter, sister, mother, and friend, was born on October 26, 1952, and left us on October 21, 2023. Her radiant spirit touched everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship that will be eternally celebrated.

Born in Pasadena, Texas, Donna was the cherished daughter of Annette Yvonne Adair Cates and Paul Everett Cates. The family later moved to Bellaire, Texas, where Donna and her sister Karen Cohorn grew up and attended school. Eventually, her father Paul's career led the family to Metairie, Louisiana, where both sisters completed their high school education. Following her passion for art, Donna returned to Texas to study at Sam Houston University. Her family also moved back, making their home in a lovely lake house in Montgomery, Texas.

In 1979, Donna married Steven Rankin Montgomery, and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Sabrina Adair Montgomery, on November 10, 1982.

Donna is survived by her ex-husband Steven Montgomery, daughter Sabrina, and son-in-law Brad Owens. Her legacy continues through her three granddaughters: Taylor Montgomery, Elizabeth Owens, and Emmalynn Owens. She is also survived by her sister, Bettye Karen Cates Cohorn, and brother-in-law Jack Cohorn. Among the family she leaves behind are her niece Melissa Machala and her husband Wayne Machala, their son Cody and his wife Harley, as well as her second niece, Tina Thames, and her husband Scott Thames.

A service to honor and celebrate Donna's remarkable life will be held at Faith Chapel in Cypress, Texas, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 5:00 pm.

The love and memories we shared with Donna will forever be in our hearts, as we come together to celebrate a life well-lived.
