Dorothy Mennell Salge went to be with her loving, Heavenly Father on November 21, 2021. The family is very thankful that she is no longer suffering and in pain. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 49 1/2 years, Eddie, one daughter Amy Ailor and her husband Jason, and one brother Bob Mennell and his wife Sue. One of Dorothy's greatest joys were her two granddaughters, Madison Ailor and Emily Moses. She cherished every moment she spent with them. There are also numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 10, 1946. When she was 3 years old her family moved to Mississippi. This is where she would call home. Dorothy taught 8th grade English for sixteen years. After that she was Headmaster at Spring Cypress Presbyterian School. When Eddie retired in 2009, Dorothy took up mountain dulcimer. Soon after Eddie was playing, too. They joined a dulcimer group called the Lone Star Strummers. The dulcimer has given both Dorothy and Eddie years of enjoyment. Also at this time we took up birding. Dorothy loved this hobby and always looked forward to our birding trips. She always commented how close to God she felt when we were out in nature. She loved God's creation and all the beautiful birds that we got to see.
Dorothy loved her church home Grace Presbyterian Church. Dorothy and Eddie both have been deeply touched by the tremendous outpouring of love shown to us by our Grace family. Dorothy always loved the womens activities. S
he particularly loved the bible studies. She also had the opportunity to serve on the Missions committee. Her love for missions grew and she was still supporting several missions at the time of her passing.
Dorothy was a very loving and compassionate person. God instilled in her a real love for people. She touched many people which has been made evident by the outpouring of love shown her at this time. The family takes great peace in knowing that Dorothy is with God and that we will see her again. We look forward to that day with great anticipation. IT IS NOW WELL WITH HER SOUL! THANKS BE TO GOD!
There will be a service celebrating Dorothy's life on December 15, 2021, 4:30p at Grace Presbyterian Church.
