Elton Laverl Ward, age 84, passed away on January 29, 2022, in Houston, Texas. He was born in Emory, Texas on July 20, 1937, to Alva Lee and Gertrude Ward.

Elton proudly served in the Air Force. He was a Steamship Line Manager for much of his career. He retired from the Comal County Sheriff's Department and for many years volunteered at a school for special needs children.

Preceded in death by brothers Billy and Jerry Ward, sister Delores Ward, daughter Melinda Wright and Niece Barbara Moss. Survived by daughter Yvette and husband John Manzelmann, grandchildren Ryan Kierewicz, Brandon Wright, Ashley Swords and Amanda Garza. Great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Gavin and Logan Wright, Jameson Kennedy, Sofia, Jacob and Joseph Kierewicz. Nieces Dee Brannon, Melissa and Dena Ward and Tammy Apala.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 7th, 2022, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 13000 Jones Rd Houston, Texas, at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
