Eugene Brown was born to Alberta Brown in Belzoni, Mississippi on March 1, 1947. At the age of 78, Eugene transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on January 3, 2026.
Eugene was one of ten children. He was preceded in death by seven of his siblings: Bessie F. Dodd, John Black, Robert Wilson, Theodore Brown, Alonzo “Nab” Brown, Cornelius Brown, and Ethel Austin. He leaves to cherish his memory two siblings, Lenera Brown and James Brown.
Aftet graduating from McNair High School in 1965, Eugene moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he began a life marked by strong relationships and lasting impressions. Later in life, Eugene relocated to Texas. Shortly after his move, he was united in marriage to Claudia Redhead on June 19, 2014. Eugene returned briefly to his hometown of Belzoni before settling once again in Texas where he remained until his transition.
Eugene was a devoted father to his children: Cristal Strong, April Daughety, Hilary Strong, Kevin Strong, and Eugene Strong, Jr. He was also blessed with two bonus sons, Barack and Malachi Redhead. He was preceded in death by two sons, Alton Blue and Anthony Strong. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Alton Blue, Jr., Altumn Blue, Alex Blue, Antonio Prince, O’Shea Blue, Caleb Matthews, Torisha Strong, Quanilla Strong, Jaqueline Strong, Anthony Strong, Jr., Alicia Strong, Elijah Strong, Kamillah Strong, Kevin Strong, Jr., Tamara Strong, Lashawanda Strong, Destiny Strong, Tyanna Nash, and Trinity Dean. Eugene also leaves cherished memories with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends, including Irma Strong, Linda Hawkins, Rose Dawson, Ron Jackson, Keith and Pamela McKinley, Gloretta Thornton, Carl Thornton, and many others whose lives he touched.
When it came to family memories, Eugene was the historian everyone turned to. He knew every sibling’s birthday by heart and ensured their history remained alive through his remarkable memory and gift for storytelling.
Eugene loved his family, his friends, and people from all walks of life. Like his brothers, he had a passion for dressing well; style was second nature to him. Everyone knew the “Brown Boys, ” and Eugene proudly carried that name, style, and legacy wherever he went.
Eugene Brown will be remembered for his warmth, his love for others, his sharp memory, and the deep lasting bonds he formed throughout his life.
