Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Marsac died July 26th in Houston, TX, at age 78.   He was born in Houston, November 20, 1942, to Frank and Othello Marsac. He grew up in Houston with his brother, Max, and graduated from Milby High.   He worked 38 years as an electrical worker for Houston Lighting and Power, under its various names, retiring from Centerpoint in 2001.  He was a member of IBEW, and served several years on its Credit Union Board.  Eugene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Marsac, daughter, Erica Berryman, and son, John Marsac, and their spouses, Stephen Berryman and Catherine Marsac, granddaughters, Hannah Berryman and Audrey Marsac, and his brother, Max Marsac.

As a young adult, Eugene enjoyed SCUBA diving and traveling to the Caribbean, even driving to Cozumel in a VW van.  He met Nancy in Cozumel and they married in 1972.  After the birth of their children, priorities changed, and he built a house and went fishing with his brother when he could.  His hobbies included camping, fishing, and cooking. He spent his retirement traveling with family, woodworking and building planes which he flew at Alvin RC. His last finished project was stringing a swing for his youngest granddaughter.  Always an audiophile, he had recently started ordering remastered, high-quality vinyl, and was hot on the trail of Louis Armstrong's "It's a Wonderful World".  He had plans for building bird feeders, and making something for his kids out of some mahogany salvaged from their grandmother's home.  He took great pleasure in the success and well-being of his children and grands.
