Evelyn Grygiel, age 89, of Katy, TX, passed away peacefully and pain-free at her home on Thursday, September 3, 2026. She was born March 23, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois. The oldest daughter of James & Beatrice Harris of Chicago, Illinois.

Evelyn also known as “Mrs G” dedicated many years to Luna Elementary in Garland, Texas, where she wore many hats and always made the students feel included and loved. She loved to read, cook, and entertain. She cherished the time she spent doing so with family and friends. She happily retired with her husband to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas in 2006. Her last years being spent with the loving staff at The Delaney at Parkway Lakes in Richmond, Texas.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman J. Grygiel, whom she married on November 26, 1965, and who passed away in 2008.

She is survived by her son, Mark Grygiel; daughters, Susan Figlestahler and Sarah McCullough; son-in-law, Paul Figlestahler; son-in-law, Tim McCullough; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A private family ceremony will be held to reunite her with her husband, Norman at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas.
