Frederick Nelson Hicks (Fred) of Tomball, Texas, passed away June 22, 2023.
Born June 30, 1934 in Breckenridge, Missouri to Robert and Alverda Judy Hicks, the
second of four brothers. Fred graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1952. In
1956 he married Wilma Lanter. Fred served in the Army and Army Reserve from 1957
to 1963. They later moved to the Oklahoma City area where he worked for the Santa
Fe Railroad and later for the C.R.Anthony Co, from where he retired as traffic manager.
As a long time member of the the First United Methodist Church of Edmond, he served
as a Stephen Minister and on many committees. As music was so important to him he
enjoyed being a long time member of the church choir. He also participated in
missions trips to Central and South America. He joined the Tomball Methodist Church
after moving to Texas.
Wilma passed after 42 years of marriage. In September of 2000 he married Patricia
Koenig. During their 14 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling and attending
concerts. Pat passed away in September 2014.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Hicks and Kenneth Hicks, first wife
Wilma, second wife Patricia and son Henry Koenig Jr.
He is survived by daughter Beverly Thomas and her husband Brent, daughter Karlyn
Bowles, sons Chris Koenig and his wife Jill and Kurt Koenig. Grandchildren Kathleen
Austin and husband Kyle, Matthew Thomas and wife Brittney, Kayleigh Bowles, Sherry
Treadway, Sarah Skeen and husband Dylan and Benton Koenig. Great grandchildren
Harper Austin, Marshall Thomas, Lily Treadway and Luke Treadway. Brother Marvin
Hicks and wife Sharon. Many nieces and nephews and lifelong special friends.
Service to be held Wednesday June 28th, 2023 2:00pm at Tomball Methodist
Church. Visitation prior to service from 1:00 to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers a
memorial contribution to a cause of your choice may be made.
