George Robert "Bob" Huzinec
February 18 th , 1941 to January 24 th , 2023
George Robert "Bob" Huzinec of Spring Texas completed his life's journey and passed on to the next, peacefully and in comfort at home with his loving wife and son at his side, after a long battle with cancer. He died just short of 82 nd birthday.
Bob was born February 18 th , 1941 to George and Fannie Huzinec in Manville, NJ. He is predeceased by his parents and his son Patrick Aaron Huzinec. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Huzinec, brother Nick Huzinec of Norwich, NY, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Terra Huzinec, and their family, step-grandsons Casey Campbell and Chance Saska and step-great granddaughter Adrianna Campbell of Spring TX, and daughter-in-law Libby Coronado Huzinec Davis and her husband Keith Davis of La Porte TX.
Bob was a life-long educator (teacher, tutor, coach, principal, and administrator), He graduated from Manville High School in 1958. After serving in the US Navy, he went to and graduated from Rider University, In Lawrence NJ, with a BA in Education and later earned Masters Degrees in Special Education and Education Administration from Trenton State College (College of New Jersey) in Ewing NJ and a Psycho-diagnostician Certification from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He was a pioneer in the instruction and support of students with special needs, establishing one of the first resource room programs for students with Emotional Disturbances. Some of the schools and districts that he taught and support students in include Valley Day School in Morrisville, PA, Neil Armstrong Middle School in Bristol Township School district, the Burlington County Special Services School District, Burlington, NJ, Klein ISD in Spring Texas, Cypress Fairbanks ISD, and Braeburn Elementary School in Houston ISD.
Bob and Carol raised their sons in Ewing, NJ where he was very active in tutoring local kids with special needs and coaching his sons and their friends in youth sports. He is well remembered by those who he coached at Cook A.A. in Trenton, NJ and West End Soccer, Ewing Little League, and Lou Gehrig League in Ewing.
A life-long sports enthusiast, Bob grew up rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers and over the years he attended MLB games, at Ebbets Field, Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, Veterans Stadium, the Astrodome, Wrigley Field, and Fenway Park. He was an avid soccer supporter especial for the US Women's and Men's National teams, a passion he shared with his wife and sons. He followed many other sports as well and was a huge fan of the New Orleans Saints. He was very knowledgeable, a good guy to talk sports with over a few beers.
Bob was a dedicated swimmer and distance runner. He ran for health and enjoyment. Over the years he logged countless miles and participated in numerous races including almost a dozen marathons, competing in his last full marathon at age 65 and last half marathon at the age of 68.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and refurbishing antique furniture. Along with his wife, they frequently went to trade days and fairs buying pieces to redo and then sell in their side gig at an antique mall in Spring, Texas.
While enjoying travel throughout his life, Bob, along with his wife, also a life-long educator, had an active and exciting retirement together that allowed them to travel the country and the world. They enjoyed cruises, both ocean and riverboat, some of their favorites were traveling up the Mississippi from St Louis to St. Paul and a cruise to the Panama Canal that they took with their son Patrick and Daughter in-law Libby. Their two favorite trips to Europe were a trip to London England and one to Barcelona Spain. One of their favorite destinations was the Hard Rock Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where they went many years to watch the Super Bowl. Bob and Carol also enjoyed taking driving trips, they were regulars at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Louisiana taking a final trip there this past June, with their son Chris and daughter in-law Terra. He and Carol also enjoyed many driving trips to trade days and flea markets to hunt for antiques in Warrenton and Winnie, Texas. During his long life, Bob was able to visit all fifty states and many of our country's great cities. With his family he took many trips to New Orleans and Las Vegas and really enjoyed his travels to Washington D. C., San Diego, and Chicago.
Throughout his life, and over his many travels, Bob had several really good friends that he kept up with over the years. Also, he was a wonderfully sociable guy, who could strike up a conversation with almost anyone and intelligently engage them on a myriad of topics. He was generous and caring to so many people.
Most of all Bob will be remembered for his love of his wife and his family. He and Carol were high school sweethearts, and were married for over 61 years. They were constant companions, experiencing so much of life together. Bob was such a loving husband, he wrote love notes to Carol almost every single day of their life together, he was devoted to her with all his heart and soul. He was also an incredible father who after raising his two sons to be conscientious and caring adults, developed adult friendships with each of them, that they both appreciated and cherished. He was also a loyal and loving brother. Over his long live he touch so many people, he is going to be well remembered and sincerely missed.
