July 29, 1946 – February 2, 2024
George Bond Simonton Jr. passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, at the age of 77 after a decline of health over the recent months in Spring, Texas.
George was born to Gertrude and George Simonton Sr. in Ruston, LA. He graduated from Ruston High School before attending Louisiana Tech University, also in Ruston. At Louisiana Tech, George studied Accounting and upon graduation became a Certified Public Accountant and joined Ernst & Ernst accounting firm in New Orleans, Louisiana. His career spanned accounting, audit, and commercial banking where he later served as CFO for multiple firms leading mergers and expanding regional banking capabilities. Much of his career was spent in Texas with Community Bank and Texas State Bank, retiring in 2015. While working in Beaumont, Texas he met the love of his life Donna, and they enjoyed 22 years of marriage.
Through the years, George was an avid reader who also enjoyed fishing, cooking for his family,and had a love for cruising with close friends and traveling the world. Everyone appreciated George's generosity and hosting amazing meals and celebrations. He cherished relaxing with his
wife at their beach house in Crystal Beach, Texas and enjoying the many beautiful sunsets over the water. After retiring, George and Donna moved to Spring, Texas to be closer to their grandchildren. He and Donna continued their love for the beach and experienced many amazing
trips with family and friends. George valued family dinners and was always sharpening his expertise at grilling and barbequing. He loved spending quality time with his grandkids and watching their dance events and ballgames. George was known as "DD" to his grandchildren
and was always one of their biggest cheerleaders. It was clear how much joy they brought to his life.
George was preceded in death by his parents Gertrude and George Simonton Sr. He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter Kelly in Houston, stepson Keith Tennison and wife Lori in Framingham, MA, stepdaughter Tracy and husband John Codrington with beloved grandchildren Abby and Reed Codrington in Spring, Texas.

Memorial services will be held at The Woodlands Methodist Church located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr. The Woodlands, Texas 77380 on Wednesday February 7, 2024, at 2pm with a reception to follow in the Jones Library.
