George W. Sutton, age 86, passed away on September 24, 2020 near Sugar Land, TX.  George was a long-time resident of Mobile, Spanish Fort and Dauphin Island, AL before moving to Texas.  He was born to Aldora Walker and John Ira Sutton in Mobile, AL.

George loved his country and was a "career military man", enlisting in the United States Navy immediately upon graduation from Murphy High School.  He enjoyed a long career, retiring with honors as a Chief Petty Officer.

George enjoyed a second career in chemical plant operations working at Union Carbide, Degussa and retired from ATO-FINA as a Production Foreman and Trainer.  He had a great love for helping others and sharing his knowledge.

George was always drawn to the sea, enjoying fishing, swimming, eating oysters, boating, sailing and shell craft.  He enjoyed gardening having quite the green thumb and was an expert chef as many of his friends and family will attest to.  He enjoyed the simple things in life to their fullest.

George is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mrs. Marion Dawson-Sutton, one brother Thomas H. Sutton of Alabama, three children; Edward (Karen) Sutton, Angela (Geoffrey) Walker and Bonnie-Sue (Jerry) Allain, all of the Mobile, AL area plus 9 grandchildren, an ever-growing flock of great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John Ira Sutton.

George will be remembered fondly by family and friends as a loving spouse, a kind and gentle man with a generous heart, a good friend, a patriot and US Navy veteran.

Funeral services will be held at the Graceful Memorial Chapel in Houston, TX on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11AM.  Services will be officiated by Chaplain Bob McIntuff.
