A Celebration of Life for Hazel Stannard Nutley will be forthcoming.
One of the kindest and happiest souls on this planet, our mom was a gentle, loving wife and mother. Unless she had a wooden spoon in her hand according to one of my brothers. She started her professional career at a local printing office where she met the love of her life, and our dad Brian Nutley. They were married on May 31, 1958, and so began their lifelong journey together.
Mom would go on to own her own ceramic shop and teach ceramics to several friends and coworkers through the years. She was especially gifted with making ceramic animals. Many of which we still have today. Several years later she would work for Mikasa’s fine China shop. It was here where her skill in decorating the store window fronts was truly magical. Especially during Christmas time. But moms real magic was just being a mom and a dedicated wonderful wife to our dad. Dinner was always ready when dad got home, she cleaned the house with full makeup and lipstick, dressed to the “nines” as we would say. As time went on, we started leaving the nest she and dad got the travel bug.
Mom and dad would end up traveling all over the world. Australia, New Zealand, Europe to name a few of their favorite places. Then the cruise bug bit them both and they were hooked. They would take cruises just about every other year for several years. Being such kind and lovely people, they often were asked to dine at the captain’s table. But we all knew that mostly was due to a refined English lady who was easy to strike up a conversation with.
Well mom, it’s now time for you to take that endless cruise that you had always wanted with dad. We are sure it’s going to be purely magical. Say hello and give Uncle Roy and Aunt Maureen a hug from all of us. I can hear dad calling you already. “Hazel lets go; the kids will be fine”. You see mom we will be fine because of the love you had for us. I can see you run up to dad while he is waiting for you. Just like you used to when you were kids in the stories you told us. A beautiful hug and kiss between both of you. All that is how it should be now. Enjoy your trip mom, you deserved it more than anybody. If you want to peek in to say hello, and tell us how the trip is going, we will be all ears. We love you so much, and you will live forever in our hearts. Until we see you again. We cherish you mom. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done for us. Cheers to our truly SPECIAL MOM.
