IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hershel
Vanness
July 9, 1966 – November 21, 2025
Hershel "Greg" Gregory Van Ness, 59, passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2025 at his home in La Marque, Texas. Born on July 9th, 1966 in Chandler, Arizona, he lived a life of genuine happiness, curiosity, and love.
Greg was an extremely hard worker and set meaningful professional examples for others throughout his career. Greg took great pride in his work, but even more pride in his family and home life. He enjoyed spending time on home improvement projects, being outdoors, and traveling to new places. Greg had a playful spirit and always took any opportunity to make someone smile.
Greg was an ardent husband and dedicated family man. While their children were young, they enjoyed having dinners together each night at the family table. Greg was known for always being delighted to see his family, no matter how the day went. His daughters appreciated his strong encouragement and creative imagination during their childhoods, often being outside riding bikes around town, snow sledding, fishing, or going "stuck in the mud" off-roading. Greg found immense joy in being a grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Greg is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Royce, their three daughters Kaitlan, Olivia, and Peyton, eight grandchildren Asher, Itzahk, Samara, Oliver, Malachi, Benji, Zahava, and baby Dinah, in addition to his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Joe MacGregor. He is preceded in death by his father, Hershel L. Van Ness, and his half-brother John Van Ness.
In lieu of flowers, Greg's family is requesting donations dedicated in his name to MD Anderson Cancer Center (Gifts.mdanderson.org). Greg will be deeply missed and always remembered by those who knew him.
