Obituary of James Edwin Fluitt
Jimmy Fluitt passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in the early morning hours of February 29, 2020. Jimmy was born on September 16,1941 in Burnett, Texas. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Frances Catherine Goudeau, parents, James Edwin Fluitt ll and Verna Inez Maxwell and stepmother Hazel Fluitt, brother, Flavel Fluitt and his loyal canine companion Edwin. Jimmy is survived by his loving children Lori Michelle Guthrie and son Terrell David "Terry" Fluitt, brother, Clyde Fluitt and sister Zelda Williams, granddaughters Angela Saril Gomez and Brooke Simone Gomez. He is also survived by many cousins, friends and acquaintances whom he admired greatly. Jimmy attended Burnett High School in 1958, where upon graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country for four years including a tour in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his return to civilian life, Jimmy met his one true love Frances Catherine Goudeau and they married soon thereafter. To support his young and growing family, Jimmy began work for the U. S. Postal Service in Waco, Texas where he worked for the next 35 years. Jimmy was a loyal friend who maintained connections with people from all walks of life. His epic sense of humor and nicknames for everyone will undoubtedly live on with those who loved him. Jimmy's children would like to pay special tribute to Michael Stange and Alison Smedley for the friendship and love they gave Jimmy in his later years. They had a rare connection that was special and undeniable. A private memorial service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held at the Fluitt family burial site at Hoovers Valley Cemetery.
