IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Gayle
Hightower
January 1, 1942 – May 15, 2021
Janice Gayle (Grissom) Hightower, 79, was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who was lovingly known as "Mamaw." Janice was born in Houston, Texas, on New Year's Day in 1942, and left this earth to reside in her Eternal home with Christ on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gerald Wayne Hightower, her father Robert "Bob" (RB) Grissom, her mother Joy Bernice Grissom, and her brother Donald King Grissom, all who surely offered her a wonderful and long-awaited welcome.
Janice leaves behind her younger sister, Sharon Grissom Fisher, son Britt Hightower and his wife Robin, daughters Lori Gaye Marshall and her husband Joe, Ramona Kerrison, and Elisa Burns and her husband Roger. She was the proud Mamaw to her grandchildren David Ruth, Lori and Habi Francis, Janie and Cooper Aqrawi, Joey Marshall, Jr., Mallory Marshall, Kaitlyn and Andy Fox, Morgan and Ben Blakley, Dane Kerrison, Brandon Brewer, Caila Brewer, Rusty and Vanessa Butler, Jared and Stephanie Butler, Courtney and Larry Dolezal, Kayla Burns, and Shane Burns. From her children's children, she was gifted 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved greatly. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice was a true force of nature and defied the odds at every turn. She suffered greatly but always had a kind spirit and loving heart. Her faith in Jesus would carry her through approximately 30 years of numerous health issues where she would say after every hospitalization and upon every new diagnosis, "This is nothing. The Lord will carry me through it - I'll beat this." She had no strength left to fight the COVID-19 virus and upon her final breath, we mourn the loss of a wonderful mother, friend, Mamaw, and warrior, but celebrate her new life, new body, and new home.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the incredible and loving care provided by the angel staff at Trinity Hospice of Houston. Thank you for making Janice's transition from one life to the next comfortable.
