Jean Baptiste Manuel, 80, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2020, at Focused Care of Huntsville in Huntsville, Texas. He was born on December 22, 1939, in Sulphur, Louisiana to Bernie and Eva Manuel where he was raised until moving to Lake Charles in the 1950s.  Jean is preceded in death by both parents and five sisters and two brothers. He leaves behind two daughters Monique Manuel Vickers and Kissner Manuel and nine sons Troy Manuel, Jean B Manuel, Jr., Alaric Manuel, Sr., Brian S. Manuel Sr. (Easha Manuel), Brickey Manuel Sr. (Paula Manuel), Roderick Manuel, Sr., Jeffrey Manuel Sr.(Donna Manuel), Reginald Smith, Jacquis Gray. He also leaves 22 grandchildren, Brickey Manuel, Jr., Ashley Flanagan, Brittney Manuel, Essence Manuel, Jaelyn Harrell, Jeffrey Manuel Jr.,  Alaric Manuel, Jr. Ke'Yonia Vickers, Briyae Manuel, LaToisha Vickers, BreNeiha Manuel, Brian S Manuel Jr., Chaise Manuel, Alaia Manuel, Alexis Gray, Brianna Gray, Ciara Gray,  Isiah Washington, Roderick Manuel Jr., Autumn Fobbs, India Rhodes and Tyson Stover; and 7 great grandchildren, SaMiyah Dawson, Sevyn Randall, Lyric Manuel, Brian Manuel, Aiden Manel Devon Manuel and Demetria Meyers; with one brother and three sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jean spent his time enjoying every moment with his family, working as a carpenter until he retired.  His hobbies were fishing, hunting, going to the casino, and horse and dog racing. He always had kind words for others and a big heart.
