Jean Ann McNeill, 82, passed away after a brief illness on February 3, 2021 surrounded by family and her fur baby she loved so much, Arabella, in her home in Pasadena, Texas.
She was born February 6, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas to Eugene Martin and Eula Myrtle Edwards. Jean is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Myrtle, her stepmother Ruby Martin, son Dennis Ray McNeill as well as siblings W.H Taylor, Billy Taylor, Elwood Taylor, J.D. Taylor and John M. Martin.
Jean leaves behind children David J. McNeill III, Debbe Salinas and Darla Smaistrla; grandchildren Rita McNeill Silva-Grondin, Ashley Salinas and husband Andrew Justice, Brian Smaistrla and wife Allison and Adam Smaistrla; great-grandchildren Rylie, Violet, Ezra, Wilder and Logan. They will all miss Mimi.
After retiring from Phillips Chemical, Jean volunteered at Jensen Elementary for over 20 years. She loved volunteering at the school, receiving PISD's Volunteer of the Year award in 2018. When students and teachers would see her in public they had to stop and talk to Miss Jean. She loved them all.
She loved growing things, cooking and reading. She was a wonderful cook. Jean did her marathon baking from Thanksgiving until Christmas every year to share with others. As a hobbyist while her children were young, she passed her love of creating to her daughters.
