My wife Jeanine was truly the love of my life and I will miss having her by my side forever.
We had a wonderful life together at the lake where we enjoyed every activity that lifestyle had to offer. Two weddings (Jessica Raney & Andrew Gaspers and Rachael Martin & David Nicholls) were celebrated at the lake house along with copious amounts of parties, birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays .Jeanine arranged a surprise birthday party for my 50th birthday and she invited people from my work and every family member to create one of the biggest parties ever seen on the peninsula before or after that event.
Jeanine especially loved Christmas and she always insisted on a party for our family and friends. She insisted on knowing who was coming so she could have a present for each person. She had a real knack for finding presents for people that they really liked (regardless of cost) and seeing to it that they got delivered to the recipient in a timely fashion. Her second favorite occasions were birthdays and she rarely missed one for friends and family and she remembered them all with no cheat sheet or smartphones.. Her favorite birthday was her own; she celebrated it the entire month (January). If someone forgot her birthday she would surely know it and the offence was duly noted in her incredible memory.
Jeanine loved being near the water and we took every chance to go somewhere in the Caribbean, usually in January to celebrate her birthday (17th) and our anniversary (24th) we visited Cozumel (our favorite 5 times or more) Jamaica, St. Thomas, Belize, the Bahamas, Florida, and Costa Rica (Pacific Ocean side). When we were not traveling to exotic locations you would find her sitting out in the sun by (or in) the lake with her feet in a sandbox we built for that exact purpose.
Jeanine was very proud of her career as a nurse. Over the years she was an ER and Surgical (heart) nurse, capping her career as Dr. Harkins (surgeon) office RN in Tomball TX. After leaving Dr. Harkins did hospice work ,then working with mentally disturbed prisoners in Conroe TX lockup before retiring in 2017.
We knew each other as long ago as high school age teenagers when she was the best friend of my younger brother's girlfriend, Mary Beyers in Inwood Forest subdivision. Jeanine, Mary & Reb Beyers, and younger brother Craig Raney attended Aldine High School followed by the four of them going on to Sam Houston State University. I would cross paths with Jeanine now and then throughout the years until we found each other in 1996 after which we were never apart again.
She would tell me stories about her and her brother Scotty who were partners in mischief, as if she needed help in that department. Stories about her big sister Janice (who was their Daddy's favorite according to Jeanine) and baby sister Lisa (who Jeanine saw as needing her protection) stayed very close throughout their lives and were a set of beautiful sisters who had each other's backs always . She also told me of raising her children Rachael (Martin) Nicholls, and David Martin whom she loved dearly. Stories about the years when the kids were growing up which presented many challenges and hardships for Jeanine yet she worked her way through those times always managing to keep a roof over their heads and providing the best life she could for them.
