Obituary

Jenny "Janet" Rosario passed away on May 4, 2021., twenty-one days after her mother, Rev. Angelica Cruz, passed away. In 1975, Janet came into the Cruz family as a foster child at the tender age of 1. Janet had many health problems and her medical prognosis was that she would not make it past 6 yrs of age. The knowledge of this did not deter Rev. Angie Cruz from continuing to care for Janet.
Through many prayers, doctor visits, hospital stays, and the continued care of Angie, her daughters, nieces, nephews and grandmother, Janet lived to the age of 47. Ten years prior to her death, Janet had been placed on Hospice care because she needed a heart surgery for which she was not a good candidate. Once again, through prayers, a very special heart surgeon, Dr. Sdringola, and her PCP, Dr. Moreno, God gave us an additional 10 years with Janet.
Janet had a sweet personality, no one was a stranger to Janet. She would always greet people with a great smile saying, "How are you?" in a way that was unique to her. She loved to hug and would always remember small details like how many children or brothers/sisters you have. She would always ask, "how are your children doing" or "how is your husband/wife/mother/father?" The interesting thing about this is that, as a child, Janet was diagnosed with mental challenges but one would not know it from the conversations she carried on and the information she could recall.
Going to church and praising God (singing and listening to the sermons) was Janet's passion. When she arrived to the church she would be the first one out of the car, greeting people as she worked her way to the front seats of the church. She loved God, the people and any activity that had to do with church. Janet loved food. Her sisters believe that she had a gourmet palate. She would let you know, in as gentle a way as she possibly could, if your dish did not taste good.
Janet also enjoyed listening to Janet Jackson (the reason why she insisted on being called Janet and not Jenny). One special niece, Crucita, managed to get Janet to two of Janet Jackson's concerts, one of the three greatest highlights of her life (church being the first). The third highlight was having a "special friend" of which Crucita also played a role. His name is George. In a span of two years they only went on two or three supervised dates. George was very much a gentleman and made her feel very special. It deserves mentioning that Crucita is also the one who cared for Janet in her home the last two weeks of her life.
During the last six months of her life, Janet and her mom, Angie insisted on being in the same room together. She could tell that her mom's health was declining and that seemed to make her want to be near mom. Mom's dementia would drive her crazy at times with having to answer the same question over and over again, but Janet still wanted to be near mom. On March 30, 2021, Janet became ill. She was hospitalized with a blood infection which, according to doctors affected her mitral and aortic valves. The only remedy was surgery, however, once again the risks outweighed the benefits and the family had to make a very difficult decision to place her on Hospice Care. We continued to pray hoping for a miracle but in the meantime, mom (Angie) was placed on Hospice care the same weekend. Angie was always concerned about who would care for Janet after she was gone. Well, mom Angie passed away on April 13 and twenty one days later, Janet passed away.
