Jerry Donald (Don) Chambless, age 84, was born May 28, 1937 in Cullman, Alabama, and passed away on December 28, 2021. His parents were Raymond and Helen (Byrd) Chambless. The family moved to Birmingham, Alabama, and after high school, he served four years in the US Coast Guard. After fulfilling his military obligation, he pursued further education, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Upper Iowa University, a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of the State of New York, and a Master of Arts degree from California State University.
He was the Chief Accountant for Galveston County Assessor-Collector's Office 1962-68. He worked as a real estate appraiser for Harris County for 25 years, and an adjunct professor at Lone Star College for 20 years.
Don loved music, all kinds, building computers, feeding the birds, and reading and teaching all things Shakespeare.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy (Hartsell) Chambless, three children, Jerry Ray Chambless (Linda), Suzanne Marie Calenda (Tom) and Stephen Lee Chambless (Martha) as well as four grandchildren, Kenny Dylan Calenda, Sheldon Corby Calenda, Austin Thomas Chambless and Isabella Catalina Chambless.
Graveside services and burial will be at the Houston National Cemetery on January 4, 2022 at 1:30.
