Obituary

Jerry LaWayne Pearce was born on November 7, 1948 in Bastrop, Louisiana.  He was the son of  Harry and Evelyn Pearce.  His parents divorced when he was four years old and he went to live with his grandmother, Alma, until his father remarried.  The family moved to Houston, Texas when he was ten years old.

Jerry graduated from James Madison High School in 1966. He met his beloved wife, Veronica, in 1967. They were engaged within two months and they married on January 11, 1969.  They had two children, a son and a daughter.  They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Jerry graduated from the University of Houston in 1973 with a BBA in Accounting.  His first jobs were with Uniroyal Merchandising, Inc., Levi Strauss & Company and he was an unsuccessful insurance salesman and entrepreneur until he made a decision to actively pursue studying and becoming a Certified Public Accountant.  He worked hard and it took him a while but he achieved his goal becoming  a CPA in 1987.

Jerry worked for many years in the amusement park industry.  He was Controller/CFO at both Astroworld Amusement and Water Park and Splashtown Water Park. He retired from that industry and began working in the oil industry for his brother, owner of PCM, Inc., of Houma, Louisiana.  Another one of Jerry's goals was that he always wanted to use his abilities and knowledge to serve the Lord in some capacity.  His final employment achieved that goal as he had the honor of working part-time for his church West Houston Christian Center as their accountant.  He was a golfer and playing golf with all his golfing buddies was a pastime he so much enjoyed.

Jerry loved the Lord with all his heart.  He became a born again Christian in 1978.  He was a member of Braeswood Assembly of God and Faith Assembly of God before coming to West Houston Christian Center in 2010.  He loved to sing and sang solos, he sang in choirs, he participated in many church dramas and presentations, he taught children's Sunday School, he participated in evangelism and outreach ministries, prayer and body ministries and he was always an usher for the Lord.  He was a soft spoken, quiet man who didn't speak much but his life was a living sermon for the gospel of Christ.  People who knew him saw the Fruit of the Spirit within him.  He was a loving man, a joyful man, a peaceful, patient, faithful man, a good man.  He was kind to all he met and he was gentle.  He was a man of faith always believing  the Lord had healed his body.  In his last years, he was always asking the waiter, the checker, the service rep on the other end of the line, "Are you a Christian?  Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?" He wanted everyone to know his  Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Pearce, his mother, Evelyn Fesi, his step-mother, Maretta Breiner, and his brother, Randy Pearce.  Jerry went to heaven to be with his Father God and Jesus on May 2, 2022. He was 73 years old.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Veronica, his son Chris (Eric) and wife Lara, his daughter, Monique, two grandchildren, Allison and Ryan and mother-in-law, Erika Rivera, all in Houston, Texas.  He is also survived by his brother, Senator Michael Fesi and wife, Carla and two sisters, Trina Fesi and Dionne Rhodes and husband, Bert, all in Houma, Louisiana.  A recent blessing and addition to his family are Dami and Moyo Crane and his grandson, Ryan, in Houston.  He also leaves many nephews and nieces.  He loved his family and prayed for them.
