Obituary

Joseph Albert Martin, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on December 1, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to Raymond and Carmen Martin, Joe was a proud Texan whose roots ran deep in the Lone Star State. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School, where he excelled in sports, particularly football, and carried that passion for athletics into his lifelong support of the Texas Longhorns.

Before starting his own business, Joe was a skilled ironworker who played a vital role in shaping the Houston skyline. With steady hands and unwavering determination, he helped construct many of the city's most iconic skyscrapers, the George R. Brown Convention Center, and even parts of George Bush Intercontinental Airport. His craftsmanship and dedication to his trade left a lasting mark on the city he called home.

Joe pursued his love for nature and the outdoors by attending the University of Texas and later earning a degree in horticulture from Sam Houston State University. His education laid the foundation for his successful career as the founder and owner of JAM Exterior Service in The Woodlands, Texas. What began as a humble lawn mowing service blossomed into a thriving landscape business, a testament to his hard work, vision, and dedication to his craft.

A longtime resident of The Woodlands, Joe was known for his big heart and support for his friends and family. Like his father before him, he always wanted his loved ones close, especially for BBQs and family gatherings. He cherished those moments spent together, creating lasting memories that will be held dear by those who knew him.

Joe is survived by his children, Ian Martin, Dennis Martin, and Jessica Martin, as well as his siblings, Susie Martin, Michael Martin, Julie Gordon, and Deborah Martin-Dominick. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond Martin.

As we remember Joe, we celebrate a man who embodied fun, hard work, resilience, and a deep love for his family and community. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. A memorial service will be held to honor his life and legacy, details of which will be shared with family and friends.
