Joyce Denson 78, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2020 in Houston, Texas surrounded by the love and support of her family. Her passing followed her short, but courageous battle against an aggressive cancer. She was born on February 17, 1942, in Napoleon Ohio to Lorenz and Adeline Dannenberg.
Her family moved to the valley where she grew up and attended PSJA High School in San Juan, Texas. After graduation she attended Pan American University and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1963 with a degree in Education.
She became a long time resident of Stamford, Texas. While living in Stamford she dedicated her life to raising her children. Joyce's love of books led her to become a part time librarian. Her hobbies included antiquing, reading, playing Words with Friends with her daughter, and her biggest passion was doll collecting, where she took pride in her extensive doll collection.
Later in life Joyce moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she met her friend and companion of 13 years, Casiano Gutierrez. We appreciate the support and care he gave our mother. We would also like to give a special thanks to Vera Care Hospice. They had the most amazing dedicated team, thank you Laci, Rachael, and Chaplain Kelly.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, sister Deane Labit and brother Tom Dannenberg. Left to cherish her life, love and memory are her 3 children, Laura Denson, Larry J. Denson and Mark Denson of Houston, Texas, and longtime companion Casiano Gutierrez of Burleson Texas.
Joyce was truly one of a kind. She had a special uniqueness that made her so endearing. Those that knew her will remember her for her wit, compassion, and kindness. We were blessed to have her in our lives.
Due to current circumstances there will not be a service. The family is planning a future Celebration of Life at a later date.
