Judith
Smith
January 5, 1940 – March 1, 2026
Juergen’s Hall
2:00 - 3:00 pm (Central time)
Judith Ann Smith, 86, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2026, at her home in Montgomery, Texas.
Judith (Judy) was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Robert and Verna Welty (Griffee). On May 31, 1958, she married the love of her life, Gene Smith, and for nearly 68 years they built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and adventure.
Judith retired after more than 20 years with the United States Postal Service. Shortly thereafter, she and her husband started an Amish transportation service based in LaGrange, Indiana. Together, they traveled the country for another 20 years, building friendships and making cherished memories along the way.
Judith’s greatest passion was making friends and sharing Jesus with everyone she met, living a life of faith and love that touched all who knew her. She had a heart of gold, always putting others before herself, offering an encouraging word, and carrying a contagious, joyful spirit.
Judith is survived by her daughter, Lisa Gregory (Dan) of South Bend, Indiana; her son, Scott Smith (Raven) of Cypress, Texas; her sister, Sallie Whiteford (Dave) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and her brother, Robert Welty (Terri) of Galien, Michigan.
She was the loving grandmother of six: Cassie Ross, Cortney Ross, Caden Smith, Christian Smith, Kerrinton Smith, and Kingson Smith. She was also a proud great-grandmother to five. She is further survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Juergen’s Hall, 26026 Hempstead Road, Cypress, Texas 77429, on Thursday, May 7th, at 2:00 p.m. Food will be served following the service.
Although we all miss Judy deeply, we rejoice in knowing she is experiencing life eternal beyond what we can imagine. It would be her heart’s desire that everyone reading this place their faith in Jesus Christ so that we may one day gather again around that great table in glory.
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." —John 11:25-26
