Obituary

Judith Kay Ohler Turner, 88, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024.
Judy was born on May 6, 1936, to William Virgil Ohler and Marjorie May Bennett Ohler in
Anderson, Indiana. Judy grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Sunset High School,
where she was a member of the National Honor Society and an officer in the Bisonettes Drill
Team.

Immediately following graduation, Judy went to work as a secretary at Republic Insurance where
she met the love of her life, George Hughie Turner. They were married on November 5, 1955.
They began their married life in Dallas, Texas and later lived in DeSoto, Texas; Houston, Texas;
Concord, California; Tustin, California; Bellaire, Texas; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Following their retirement, Judy and George returned to Houston to be near their children and
grandchildren. They enjoyed attending their grandchildren's activities and were familiar faces at
band performances, baseball, football, and volleyball games.

She was an avid quilter, weaving warmth and care into every stitch. Her quilts not only were
beautifully designed and hand quilted for her family members, they earned recognition and
ribbons at local quilt shows. Judy was also an accomplished seamstress, crafting countless
garments and gifts that reflected her attention to detail and creative spirit.

Her flower garden flourished under her tender green thumb, a trait she inherited from her father.
A spirited game player and dedicated community member, she found joy in both competition and
camaraderie, always winning at Password. She and her husband were very involved with
community activities including senior bus trips, Bingo, and volunteering at monthly senior
luncheons.

Known for her boundless kindness and generosity, Judy touched the lives of everyone she met.
Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where she took great pleasure in hosting family and
friends, always ensuring everyone felt welcomed, loved, and well fed.

Above all, Judy cherished her family. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 65
years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She lived a life
rich in love, laughter, and service to others. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and caring for all
will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever
remembered with love.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, and her son-in-law, Les Harding.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Mayor; her daughters, Debbie Harding, Laurie Froebel and
husband Richard Kerr, Jr.; her son, David Turner and wife Ngoc Ma; her grandchildren, Alex
Strubeck and husband Ryan, Drew Harding, Will Froebel, Nguyen Le, and Michael Le; great
granddaughter, Sutton Strubeck; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Burial will be with her husband at Houston National Veteran's Cemetery and service details will
be communicated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the
Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
