Obituary

Larry G Nichols went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning August 9 in Tomball, TX. He was 78 years old. He was a resident of Waller, TX at the time of his death but had been a life long resident of Union City, TN.

Larry was born on March 25, 1944 in Kenton, TN to the late Mary Oma and Paul Nichols. Larry attended Union City High School and played in the band and lettered in football. He married Barbara Hays Nichols in 1964. They had 3 children Lauri, Blake, and Drew. Larry and Barbara had just celebrated their 58th anniversary prior to his death.
Larry had a very full an varied life. He bought livestock for Reelfoot Packing and Tennessee Producers. He was a professional photographer and owned a flower shop. He even drove a school bus for several years. But his favorite job began when he was 46 years old when God called him to be a pastor. He was pastor of Mt Olive Baptist Church in the Crystal Community for 21 years and was an interim pastor for 5 years at Oak St Community Church. After his retirement, Larry was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church of Union City, TN. He loved sharing the Lord with every one he met.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Mary Oma Nichols of Union City, TN and Paul Nichols of Indianapolis, IN, his two step sisters Paula Nichols and Judy Nichols of Indianapolis, IN, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Sis and Frank Hays of Union City, TN, and his brother-in-law Jackie Bone of Union City, TN. He is survived by his wife Barbara Hays Nichols , daughter Lauri Watters and husband Arron of Dyersburg, TN, son Blake Nichols and wife Rebecca of Waller, TX, and son Drew Nichols and wife Kristi of Canton GA. He also has 6 beautiful granddaughters Samantha Nichols of Mobile, AL, Sydnie Nichols of San Marcos, TX, Sara and Shae Nichols of Waller, TX, Mckenzie and Haylie Nichols of Canton, GA. He is also survived by his Sister-In-Law Marsha Bone and Brother-in-Law Mark Hays as well as many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of Larry Nichols on Saturday September 10th at the 2nd Baptist Church of Union City, TN. Visitation will be at 1:00 and the service will begin at 2:00.
