Obituary

Leo Edward Hartfield, 89, a lifelong resident of the Houston area, passed from this life Saturday, March 5, 2022.  He was born August 22, 1932, in Houston, Texas to Tom and Florence Ritchie Hartfield.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Florence, brothers Howard and Curtis, sisters Lottie Marie and Doris Lee. He is survived by many loving friends, nieces and nephews.

Leo never married, but he was especially loved by his older sister Doris, and the feeling was reciprocated. He spent many hours with Doris and her husband Larry.  After Larry died, Leo would go every few days to check up on her and take her out to eat and to shop, to make sure she had whatever she needed.  Doris LOVED to shop, and Leo enjoyed taking her.  What Leo also enjoyed was his coffee, lemon pie and his four-legged friends.

Leo proudly served his country during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1956. After serving, he returned to Houston and worked in the service industry until his retirement. After retirement, he moved into a Senior Community, where he was one of the most popular residents. He had a kind heart and many friends. Many residents were sad and expressed their disappointment when he had to leave in 2016 and move to Vista Nursing and Rehab in Pasadena. Leo's quick wit and friendly personality soon made him a favorite with the staff and residents at Vista, and he will be missed.

A graveside service will be held at HOUSTON NATIONAL CEMETERY ON FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2022 in LANE 1, GATE TIME 10:30am.  Guest can line up no earlier than 10:15am in lane 1 and not later than 10:30am.
