IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis Dean
Baggett
August 28, 1945 – July 1, 2022
Louis Dean Baggett, 76, was brought into this world on August 28, 1945, in Kilgore, Texas, to Marion Dean Baggett and Ernest Charlene Winterbauer. On July 1, 2022, with his children by his side, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Louis is proceeded in death by his wife, Emma Christine Baggett; father, Marion Dean Baggett; mother, Ernest Charlene Winterbauer; and sister, Sherry Lynn Baggett McMillen.
Louis attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed basic training in San Diego, California. He then went on to train for demolition at Camp Pendleton. Over the next three years, Louis honorably served his country while traveling the world, sailing across the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS General Patrick and after a brief stay in Okinawa, Japan, he went on to complete a ten-month tour of duty in Danang, Vietnam. As a Marine Veteran, Louis continued to uphold the honor of the Corps. "Once a Marine, Always a Marine".
Louis was a hard worker and spent the latter part of his career operating heavy equipment, ultimately retiring from Champion as well as San Jacinto County. He had a great passion for carpentry, which was passed down from his father and his Uncle Donald Winterbauer. He not only built his own home, but he also built homes for multiple friends and family members. He loved to share his talents with others, especially his children.
While Louis was a hard worker, he still knew how to have a good time. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He left his family with many happy memories. One of the fondest childhood memories his children have are him telling them that "when I reach heaven I will build a huge mansion in the sky, so the entire family can be together once they reach Heaven." He always followed this with a nightly prayer: "NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP, I PRAY THE LORD MY SOUL TO KEEP, IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE, I PRAY THE LORD MY SOUL TO KEEP". Afterwards, they would spend half an hour blessing everyone and everything in the world. These are some of the many memories they'll forever cherish.
He is survived by his friend and mother of his four children, Patricia Ann Dodd; daughter, Karen Tricia Smith and son-in-law Randy of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Katharine Louise McClain and son-in-law John of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Kristal Kay Warren and son-in-law Chris of Crockett, Texas; Son, Louis Dean Baggett, Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas; stepdaughter Christy Wetherell and son-in-law Chester.
